I am searching for Elizabeth (Lizzie) C Torrence and James Standish, a Civil War soldier who left Plymouth MA in the "Standish Guard", joined Co. E, Plymouth.
i know james was 19 at Civil War time, a Blacksmith, Single. became a Corporal in Co. B, 3rd M.V.M. did 3 mos. service. Enrolled 21 Sept., '61.discharged for disability 22 Sept.,'62.
he is of the myles or miles standish line.
his family tree:
JOSHUA, Plympton and Middleboro’, son of 2d Moses, m. Susanna Cobb, and had Joshua, Josiah, Joseph, and John Cobb. JOSHUA, Middleboro’ and Plymouth, son of above, m. Mary, d. of William Shaw of Middleboro’, and had Susanna Cobb, 1815, m. Ichabod T. Holmes; Joshua, 1817; Ruth Shaw, 1819; Ethan Allen, 1822, m. Susan Ford of Bucksport; Mary Shaw, 1824, m. Robert H. Aldrich of Uxbridge; Ruth, 1826, m. Frederick Gleason of Boston; Miles, 1831; Winslow Brewster, 1834, m. Sylvia M., d. of Joseph Maybury of Plymouth. JOSHUA, son of above, m. Lydia Oldham, 1838, and had Miles, m. Ellen, d. of Charles Westgate; Lydia Ann; and James C., m. Lizzie C., wid. of Nathan Haskins, and d. of Robert Torrence, and 2d, Mercy A. Clark.
so...you can see james married Lizzie C., widow of Nathan Haskins, and daughter of Robert Torrence, and then his second wife was Mercy A. Clark. (mercy also may have spelled her name Mercie)
I am looking for him, Lizzie, and mercy A. (may be anne, ann or annie) clark. cannot find burial records, marriage, death records of any of them.
in fact i cannot find anything on any of them other than this.
any help appreciated...would love to hear from you, thanks!
