Well, I found John W Torrence (1816-) but very little on this man.
This gets a little snarky.
The information I gave you in part 1 was based on John P Torrence being the son of William Henry Torrence (1785-1828) x 1809 Saloma Dains (1790-1874).This was a man without siblings.
The finding of John W Torrence shows this list of Johns siblings:
Sylvester (1810Generation 9
John W (1816
You will recall John P's siblings as:
Sylvester (1810Generation 8
William Barnum (1812
Salmond D (1813
John P (1816
Laura Ann (1818
Austin W (1820
Marcus Layayette (1828
I got this information from a Man who researched the New York and New England Torrence family.
I think you will agree that this is the same family with some inconsistencies.
Especially when you see that John W et al have William Henry Torrance (1787-1828) x 1809 Saloma Dains (1790-1884)
Clearly the same parents, but with some date problems.
This second listing shows William Henry with four siblings, or 5 kids in all.(Generation 8)
Aaron Burr Torrence
Albert Mattison Torrence
William Henry Torrence
The real Aaron Burr was a rascal of sorts who tied to set up his own country.
William Henry Torrence is likely named for William Henry Harrison, President of the US.
The parents of these kids is
Hastings Torrance.Generation 7
The parents of the original William Henry is
William Torrence.Generation 6
That is a problem as there is no agreement.
The parents of Hastings are:
Joseph Torrance (1759-1834) x 1782 Sarah Mitchell (1760-1844) of Woodbridge, CT; then Jay in Essex Co, NY.
Joseph is the younger brother of William Torrence mentioned above.Generation 6
SO: now we have a generation error.
I am inclined to think the answer is here. The material is a bit mixed up, but This is how it was received.
I THINK the solution is that the error is in Generation 6 where we wind up with either the mysterious William or the well detailed Joseph.I would be inclined to pick Joseph as the real ancestor.
who are Jospeh's parents?(and for that matter, the mysterious William)
Thomas Torrance (1718-) x 1748 Anna Root of Bann River, Ireland and then Woodbury, CT
Back to the second set of data for Sylvester, Barnum, Issac, John W, Laura and Lafayette.
I have children for Sylvester and for another (not called out).
The mystery parent children are:
Henry Torrance (1844-
Fayette Torrance (1852-
Fayette married a Sophia Torrence
and they had
Richard Torrence (1877-
Eugenia Torrence (1879
Fayette and Sophia lived in Worthington, MN
Now, I agree that a lot of this may not be applicable to your line, but I think you will agree that I would rather have some so-so information if it lets us break through to the answer.
