I coded this family NC-1 since it has no known direct link to the Torrence Main Family, although a north Carolina Branch is in the same NC area at the same time.

I have just added six pages on the descendents of Isabella's sister: Anne Torrance (1762-c1822).While not directly related there are some interesting movements that may interest you.

Anne married William Robinson in 1778 and moved from Tryon Co, NC to Bond Co, IL.Isabella (child 2) and Anne (child 1) are the only two siblings of 7 that moved to Bond County, which is located south of St Louis and has Greenville as the county Seat.

However, Matthew Brown Torrance (1773-1845) thier brother (and child 5) moved to Madison County, IL, which is right in the same area of Illinois.

Anne and William had 10 children. The oldest, Hugh Torrance Robinson, was born in Lincoln Co, NC and moved west to Bond County, IL with the family and then in 1847 headed southwest to Texas.
Five of the siblings packed up with thier parents and moved to Bond County and one, John, later moved out to Oregon as an adult.

James A Robinson (child 5) is of interest.Born in 1800 he is thought to have died about 1881.He married Rebecca Nelson in 1820 when she was 17.

They had 6 children who were all born in Bond County. The two oldest girls married and remained in Bond County, but Rebecca Nelson Robinson left for Texas about 1848 and four of the children migrated to Texas at about the same time. You can find Rebecca Nelson Robinson in Texas in the 1850 census.

The puzzle would be:Why did Rebecca leave James Robinson and get out of town as it were. One solution would be if James had died, but he shows up in every census up to 1880 in Bond County.

What pulled this family to Texas instead of West as was far more common at that time?

I have the grandchildren for Hugh T Robinson and for James A Robinson listed on the pages.
