1.WHOOPEE!!I have been trying to complete a "set" of census records for Dewitt (De Witt) Torrance, s/o Thomas and Lavina/Lavinia Torrance. The other evening I found a 1910 census record for him on familysearch.org but no original image. However on the transcription is listed with his family (DRUM ROLL!) - Livina M. Olney, 86, b. NY, mother of head of the family!!!I nearly fell out of my chair!(I later got a copy of the original record from HeritageQuest Online.)I looked for Livinia Olney in records for several years after 1860 and found her as Levina M. Olney, 55, b. NY, in the 1880 Eureka, Greenwood Co., KS, Census, with Ephraim Z. Olney, 64, b. NY, Justice of the Peace. Then the name Olney kept niggling at me and I realized that I had found some of the Torrance sons with/in close proximity to Olney family members in other records.I went back over my recent census finds and found Elbridge Torrance with Ezra Z., 54, b. NY, Probate Judge and Elizabeth L., 46, b. Mass., Olney in Burlington, Osage Co., KS, in 1870.While Ephraim and Ezra certainly aren't the same, the initial "Z.," the age, place of birth, and occupation make me lean toward thinking this is the same man.I cannot find Livinia (any spelling) in 1920.
2.I found a different version of the death record of Chlorinda Torrance than I had found before and her parents are listed as Jonathan and Annie, no surnames but I would bet that this is Jonathan Bartlett and Ann Mixer/Mixter.
3.On some marriages I posted previously of possible sons, I'm sure that the Elmer m. Edith may be a son or grandson of, but is not the son of Thomas and Lavina. He's much too young.
4.Jerome Torrance who appears to be the son of Thomas and Mary?/Lavina? named sons Thomas W. and Dewitt T.?; that looks like a pretty clear family connection.
