As I believe I have posted before, I have located Elbridge Torrance, 20, b. NY, in the household of Ezra Z. and Elizabeth L. Olney in Burlingame, Osage Co., KS, in the 1870 Census.

In the 1900 Census, Elbridge R. Torrance, 48 (transcription says "49"), b. Aug. 1851, IL, father b. IL, mother b. NY, m. 28 yrs., is in Watson Precinct No. 15, Pitkin Co., CO, with wife Louise H., 48 b. June 1851, PA, father b. PA, mother b. NY, 2 children b., 2 living; Verneice E. Smock, neice, 23, single, b. Oct. 1876, PA, both parents b. PA; Leroy Wolf(?), nephew, 14, b. Oct. 1885 KS, single, father b. PA, mother b. Iowa; Winfield Smock, nephew, 14, b. June 1885 PA, both parents b. PA.What I think may be "Wolf" is transcribed as "Walp."

In the 1910 Census, Albridge Torrance, 59, b. IL, m. 38 years, both parents b. Mass., with wife Louis Torrance, 58, b. PA, father b. PA, mother b. NY, 2 children b., 2 living, in Silverdale Precinct, Kitsap Co., Washington.

In the 1920 Census is Elbridge K. Torrance, 69, b. IL, both parents b. NY, with Louisa H. Torrance, 68, in the household of Elof L. Johnson, 55, Rudolph Johnson, 17, Theodore Johnxon, 11.There is no original image on familysearch (yet) and I cannot bring one up at HeritageQuest Online. One of the things I don't like about HQO is that you have to put in the name EXACTLY as they have it indexed, no matter what you find on another site. They have an advanced search and you're supposed to be able to search with almost any set of parameters, but I have never been able to get it to work.(My complaint of the day!!)

And I do wish I could find Elbridge Torrance in 1880 but I have been absolutely unable to do so!!

I also stumbled across this interesting record:Jay? Quackenbush, 40, b. NY, Atty. at Law; wife Sarah, 26, b. NY, and two daughters, 6 & 4, both b. Michigan, in the 1870 census of Eureka Twp., Greenwood Co., KS.This man is of an age and b. in the same state, to be a younger brother of Lavinia.Just a thought.
