William, I found the following on what I think is your great great aunt's(?) husband and family:
1880 Federal Census, New York (Persia, Cattaraugus Co.):Clay Torance, 36, farmer; Myria Torance, 34; Stiles A. Torance, 7; William Torance, 6; Lucy Torance, 4; Chester Torance, 2; Franklin Torance, 32 (brother of Clay?); Allice Brain, 23; Blanch Brain, 8 mos., all b. NY.

1900 Federal Census, Pennsylvania (Easton city, Northampton Co.):Wm. (middle initial transcribed as "W"; I think it is "M") Torrance, 26, b. Apr. 1874; Maryan N. Torrance, 26,b. May(?)1873; Rachael Torrance, sister, 13, b. Aug.(?) 1886?, all b. New York.
1910 Federal Census, New Jersey (Ward 3, East Orange, Essex Co.):William M. Torrence, 36, b. NY; Laursa (sic) M. Torrence, 34, b. Illinois; Phillipp M. Torrence, 4, b. NY; Myra M. Torrence, 3, b. NJ; Charles M. Torrence, 3 mos., b. NJ; Wanda Jalizak, servant, 18, b. Russia Polish. This appears to list this as William's 3rd marriage but it is quite unclear.
1920 Federal Census, Georgia (Chatham):William Torrance, 44; Louisa Torrance, 42, b. Ill.; Philip Torrance,14, b. NY; Myra Torrance, 12, b. NJ; Charles Torrance, 10, b. NJ; Stiles Clay Torrance, father, 76, b. NY; Lottie A. Torrance, parent, 51, b. Mass. The info on William is at the bottom of the previous page to the rest of the family; it is absolutely unreadable so the transcriber apparently didn't take his info from this page.(Louisa's father's POB listed as England and mother's POB as Vermont.)
South Carolina Deaths, 1915-1943:William Martin Torrance, b. 04 Apr 1874, Gorwanda, N.Y., married, father's name S. Clay Torrance, b. N.Y., mother's name Myra Smith, b. Marshfield, N.Y., Cival Engineneer (sic), residence Charleston, d. 18 May, 1920, at the age of 46y 1m 1d, buried Savannah, Ga.Suicide.
I searched on www.familysearch.org using "William Martin Torrance," b. New York, 1874-1970, got about 500 hits and spent about a half hour going through them.I don't think I searched to the end of the "hits."The death certificate and some of the census records are available at this site, i.e. the original record. The site is free.I hope some of this gives you clues for further research.
Oh, one more thing.I came across another census record, not for this William but I'm fairly certain it is a family member. It is in the same county as William Martin T. at 6 years old, and there are many of the same names.
1880 Federal Census, New York (Great Valley, Cattaraugus Co.):Stiles Torrence, 43, b. NY; Mary Torrence, 40, b. Ireland; W.R. Torrence, 18; Nelly Torrence, 16; Matilda Torrence, 14; Mary Torrence, 5; Ravy M. Torrence, 3 mos., b. NY (as probably all the other children are too).
