I am looking for information on my grandfather's root. All I know is that he died in Harlingen, Texas sometime between 1958-59.While he was married legally to my grandmother, Maria (de Jesus?) Alvarez, he abandoned her and possibly took up residency in Brownsville, Texas. He may have had a separate family there. He came back home to my grandmother, apparently to die.He was suffering from an illness and died within a few months of his return.
I recall my aunt telling me that he was of a wealthy Spanish tobacco family ( in Guadalara possibly) , and he married my grandmother who was a half-breed.Half indian for sure with possibly a Spanish father. My grandfather later fellout of favor with the family (possibly due to his marriage to my grandmother) and later fled his father's home with his wife and left behind 3 children. Both my grandfather and grandmother provided services to Pancho Villa and worked for him on the train.Later, in payment for the services, Pancho Villa dropped them off in the Harlingen/Brownsville area where they settled in.They later sent for their children which were left behind but all 3 had died over the period that they were gone (causes unknown). When they restarted their family, they named their children after those who died before them.
Unfortunately my aunt, Racquel, who was the oldest died within the last two years. Her memory was failing before that and I could not preserve much information.
They had several children, Maria Racquel, Socorro, Rosa, Trina ( I don't know if this is a nickname), Luis, Eszeqel (sp?) and Enrique.Only three remain, one suffering from memory loss.
