Yes we have corresponded some time ago. There is a connection between the PA & VA Tosh families ... that is, the early PA family:
Jonathan Tosh of Drumore twp., Lancaster Co., Penna. d. there 1750 had three sons (& daus): James who d. just prior to him in 1750; Tasker & Thomas Tosh had both had gone to Virginia. The latter are the Toshes of Augusta & Botetourt counties, Virginia, latter 1700s.
The son, James Tosh d. 1750 left a young daughter and an unborn child at the time of his death.Later evidence (guardianship papers) shows the unborn child was a son who was named James Tosh.I believe this James Tosh was in Virginia with his uncles (ca. Am. Rev.), but this is mostly conjecture on my part until further proof is found that he was the James Tosh Jr. who was named in Botetourt County records.[See Kegley's Virginia Frontier]
There is also a later Pennsylvania Tosh family that I know little of (later l800s).A lady who was a member of our local genealogy society was of the later Tosh family and we exchanged some information prior to her death. We could never find a connection.Unfortunately, she left no family and I don't know where her research has gone.
