Am still trying to fit bits and pieces together. I have had some update on the story, so here is the latest on my story: I have 3 boys (Eli DETHROW, b1825-26; David DOTHEROW, b1825; and Joseph C.DETHERROW, b1820) whose mother drowned around 1827. This is in Tennessee. After she drowned, father remarried. When father died, stepmother sent the three boys away, story goes because she had offspring from the boys' father.Stepmother didn't want the 3 boys around. One (Eli) was sent to be raised by an old doctor (possibly an uncle) and 2 to live with an uncle in MS. Time of boys separation is around 1838-1840.
We have had confirmations that the mother drowned in a boating/rafting accident. I havealso been in contact with descendants from the other 2 brothers, and have confirmations that no only the mother drowned, but that Joseph's last name was spelled DETHERROW and lived in Winston Co., MS. David DOTHEROW settled in Noxubee Co., MS., and my Eli DETHROW could be found in 1846 in Calhoun Co., MS, before eventually settling in Oregon County, MO with his 2nd wife and family (long story) in 1868.
Since the boys were sent to be raised by family, one who was a doctor, I'm still trying to figure it all out...
Any help is appreciated. (none of my boys are listed in the OUR KIN book, and if I wasn't descended from one, you wouldn't know the 3 existed.)
Please email me privately at: firstname.lastname@example.org if you want more details or have any info you wish to share/exchange.
ps: I can find you some Totherow/Young descendants also (with email).. I do have info on Joel and Matilda.
