Hi Joan,
Thank you for your reply. I was more curious to know if he put any footnotes or reference for his findings. I have Sophie Tourville married to Joseph German and that's a mistake. She was married to Joseph Giguère and did not live in Rutland.
The strange thing is that her brother Louis Tourville was married to a Mathilda and left for Michigan. Her maiden name was Mathilda LaQuire (father Mitchell LaQuire - mother Louisa German or Germain or St-Germain). A "Joseph German" was living in Ferrisburg/Vergennes area in Vermont and later moved to Brandon, Vt.
I found the marriage of Mathilda LaQuire and Louis Covill (sic) in Ferrisburgh in September 1865.
I am now trying to find the ancestry of Mathilda and I remembered the Joseph German mentioned in Clarence Tourville's book and that made me wonder.
I would love to have a copy of this book but it seems no one knows where I can find (or buy) a copy.
And, by the way, I admire so much the work that he has done, especially with the means he had at the time! We just click and he had, I presume, had to travel or to write to all places.
Diane
