John Tousley born John French 24 Sept. 1889
I have been looking for information on John French/Tousley for 40 years. The story goes that his parents and perhaps siblings were killed in a house fire. Then he was placed in an orphanage which also at some time burned down. In the 1900 census I found him as a ward of my husband’s great grandfather George H. Tousley. In the 1910 census he is living as a boarder with another family under the name of John Tousley. He also married under that name and his burial information is under that name. I am looking for him and for his parents before the fires, which must have occurred after his birth 24 Sept. 1889 and the 1900 Census in Colorado. An Idea I had was that perhaps I could find his information by following a lead that may or may not be true. George H. Tousley was the Cousin of three Tousley sisters that married three boys with the last name of Sturdevant. The boys were the Children of Mary Ann (maiden name-French) Sturdevant. I've wondered if maybe the reason George took John as a ward and then I guess adopted him (Though I have not found a record of an adoption) was that there was a family connection. Thank you for any help you may be able to give me.
