I am looking for more information about an ancestor of mine, named (in his marriage-certificate, December 7th 1766) Thomas Toussaint. He was married to a Gertrudis Artsen/Aartsen in Elst, a village near Nijmegen, The Netherlands). This certificates says specificly that he is "a young man from France", but not where he was born. He had 11 children, all baptised between 1767 and 1787 in Elst. In the several papers his name is sometimes written as Toussin, Thousenne, Thoussenaere, Tussen - all phonetical I guess -, but he is also named Thomas Franssen, Thomas Franciscus and even once as Franciscus Tussen. He had three familymembers - probably living in the same area, named Peter Tussen, Maria Franssen and Jacob Francois. From this last person Jacob I know that he was born in Cambrai. Are all the people named here children of one and the same person, who was - perhaps named Francois Guerin (this man was at least present at one of the baptisms in 1765 in Kalkar, Germany, where Jacob lived). It's a very difficult problem I have, but can anyone help?
