I am offering a story submitted to me by Howard Slater, hoping he doesn't mind, in regards to the question of Indian blood.
By Howard Slater- a Family Story
There were McCombs in the Creek Indian tribe located in Alabama. All of the pictures I have of the McCombs have strong Indian features, and it was George Washington McCombs, my Grandfather, always carried a picture of an Indian man in his trunk.Could it be???

Many of these are mentioned in the book "Old Indian Fighters of TExas" by A. J. Sowell. On January 25, 1859, Richard bought 202.5 acres of land on Hondo Creek from J.T.C. Greenwood of Calwell County for $759.00.This remained in McCombs hands until after the death of both Richard and his wife.(A settlement known as San Francisco was made in 1850 west of the Medina River six miles in a southwest direction from Castroville below the "San Antonio Road" by Mr. Hass, the father of Valentine, Philip, Fritz and George Bass. Also involved in this venture was a Biase (Plassie?)
