Richard Tozer (Thomas-2 Richard-1) was born in 1679, somewhere in New England.He was the son of Thomas Tozer and his wife, whose identity is unknown.
Richard settled first in New London, New London County, Connecticut.There, on 8 April 1702, he marriedMERCY-3 BEEBE, daughter of Samuel Beebe and Mary Keeney.She was born in New London on 6 October 1678.They had eight children:

Sometime before the fall of 1712, he removed to nearby Colchester, New London (formerly Hartford) County, wherehe was one of the first settlers.On October 7 of that year, he sold some land he owned in Colchester to a Mr. Saltonstall, and had a seventy acre grant there dated 26 January 1718/9.
He died shortly before 20 March 1733, presumably in Colchester; he was only fifty-four.What became of his wife is presently unknown.
