Thanks Keith for the kind reply! Apologies for the delay in responding... winterizing the homestead and livestock shelters sidetracked me from gen-work. Your insightful hypothesis about the John/collapsed generations is a strong possibility. However, two wives would also explain much; there are many documented ancestors who sired children over a 50 yr span, beginning at 16 yrs old. Two or more wives were the 51/49 rule rather than the exception then. About Maria Margaretha... were there any witnesses, sponsors etc in any of those documents who kept popping up? Might she have just arrived as an immigrant herself? Might she have been from "outside" the Troxell family faith?
