A Peter Trachsel immigrated to America on the ship "Samuel" arriving in Phildelphia on August 17, 1733.He settled in Egypt,Pa and the home he built is still there. It isnow a tourist attraction. On June 24, 109 Troxells travelled by bus to tour the home & church. We go by the name Troxell which is the americanized version of Trachsel. I would be very interested to know why or how the Trachsels retained the German spelling? It's pretty obvious we have the same roots. Some Troxells have dropped one "L" and some spell their name Truxall.I've heard that it's due to poor handwriting (before typewriters) that the name came up with different spellings.
If any of you Trachsels would care to share their story with me, I would be grateful. We are planning another family reunion and we would like to have you join us. We have the immigration story pretty well studied and would share stuff with you.
