I've been searching for a great-great grandmother for years, and know that she married a John Trammel(l) in Arkansas about 1844-45.She was the widow of Thomas Hol(e)man, a land owner, who earlier was a Territorial Magistrate before Arkansas statehood. She had at least two sons (Joseph b: 1836, and Thomas b:1838).Joseph Holeman was my line.In the 1850 census she and a John Trambell were living in Hempstead county and both boys were listed as Trambells/Trammells (but Joseph always used Holman as a last name).
I've never found any more about them after 1850.Her name was supposedly "Levisa," and earlier she said she was from KY...but this census claims GA, and lists her name as Louisa. Also says she is 45 to John's 36.Her last name was reported to have been Knapp before she married Thomas Holman.Don't know if that was her maiden name or if she was a widow.Interestingly she and Thomas Holeman lived very neara John Trammelin the 1840 census in Hot Spring Co.(Hot Spring Township)They were listed:Barzilla Wright (another ancestor of mine)...John H. Robbins (don't know them), Thomas Holeman; Ransome Powell (don't know them); and John Tramell Senior.
John Tramell's family in 1840 census consisted of:1 male 5-10; 1 male 10-15; 3 males 15-20; 1 male 20-30; (was this a 26-yr-old John Trammel Junior?); 1 male 40-50 (must have been John Tramel Sr.) and 1 Female 10-15 and 1 Female 20-30.
Thomas Holeman's family in the same census consisted of:2 males under 5 (Joseph b: 1836 & Thomas b: 1838); 1 Male 15-20; 1 Male 40-50 (Thomas); 1 Female 10-15; 1 Female 15-20; and 1 Female 30-40 (Levisa/Louisa who could have been 35 in 1840).
Tenyears later in the 1850 Hempstead Co. Census it was:
