I have just started doing genealogy and don't know what I'm doing so don't know whether it will be helpful to respond after 5 years but I do have information on Dunstan Banks Traweek.
He was my great-grandfather. His father was James Franklin Traweek and his mother was Elizabeth Beard Traweek. Dunstan Banks was born in Kuscoko, Italia, Mississippi on March 31, 1844.
His father died when Dunstan was two years old and his mother died when he was four years old. He was raised under the guardianship of Mr. Bill Adams.
At the age of 18 he volunteered to fight for the Confederate Army. He joined the Calary Company I, Forrest's Brigade in the fifth Mississippi regiment. Dunstan was in the service for three years and six months and fought in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi. He was with General Forrest at Ft. Pillow. He was injured at Franklin, Tenn..
He returned home to Mississippi in February 1865 but decided to move to Texas for his health.
He was married in 1868 to Martha McRea of Grimes County, Anderson, Texas. Martha McRea was a grand-niece of General Sam Houston. They had 14 children, two of whom died at early ages. They moved to Berclair, Texas where they lived the later years of their life together. Dunstan died February 3, 1931.
This was the account provided to me by my uncle, Roy W. Traweek in March 1976. My grandfather was the 4th born, Edwin Banks Traweek.
