Barnabus and Cary Traylor, Civil War records

By Pamela Zull January 04, 2010 at 12:51:30

Both Barnabus and Cary Traylor enlisted in the 18th KY Regiment for the Civil War, for the union. I found physical descriptions of these men online at footnote.com

Cary Traylor
5 feet, 11 inches, dark hair, blue eyes
B. Bath CO, KY, occupation: Farmer
Enlisted at Falmouth on 17 Nov 1861

Barnabus Traylor
five feet, six inches
age 40 when enlisted in 1861
Light complexion, blue eyes and auburn hair
Born in Bath CO, KY

I have always wondered how I came to have auburn hair. My mother's mother and grandmother both had auburn hair, but since red hair is recessive I wondered who in my father's background had red hair. I never envisioned Barnabus Traylor with red hair, but he is undoubtedly the person who supplied the extra red haired gene for me to have this nice auburn hair. So thanks Barnabus.
