Last week I spent 3 days in Salt Lake City researching the ancestors and descendants of John Tripp "the Founder" who married Mary Paine.I went through a transcription of the parish register for Horkstow, which included entries from the Bishop's Transcript when they differed from the parish register. Although I transcribed all the Moyses & Tripp records from the beginning until after 1700, I will just put the pertinent ones here.
First of all, there were several christenings for a John Tripp in the correct time period to be the father of John the Founder.Unfortunately, for a period of several years the father's name was left off the christening records, and during that time period the marriages and burials were entirely left out of the register. To make it doubly unfortunately, this was before the beginning of the bishop's transcripts. There is, therefore, no way to tell which of the John's might have died as infants or in early childhood, and which remain eligible to be our John.
There are several pre-1700 Tripp wills extent in Lincolnshire, about half of which are for Tripps in Horkstow.I made prints from the microfilm of these wills, and I am gradually transcribing them.I am really out of practice at reading old English Court Hand, but it is gradually coming back to me.Unfortunately, the names are the hardest to translate, so until I get done with all the wills, I cannot tell if any of them can help identify which of the John's christened in Horkstow might be the father of our John the Founder.
Anyway, here is what I DO know pertains directly to our John.I will post the entire list of Tripp entries in the Horkstow parish register later, after I have had a chance to compare them with the original parish register.

1.John Tripp, b. Horkstow, Lincolnshire, ENG; d. after 11 Feb 1629 (youngest daughter christened) and before 19 Jul 1648 (dau. Elizabeth died, and the burial record reads d/o "Isabel Tripp, widow."

(The marriage is recorded in the parish register as "John Tripp & Elizabeth Moyses," but in the bishop's transcript it is written "John Tripp & Ezabell Moyses."John Tripp the Founder, in his autobiography, says he was born in Horkstow, the s/o John Tripp and Isabel Moyses. Moreover his sister Elizabeth is christened as "d/o John Tripp," but buried as "d/o Isabel Tripp, widow."There is also the burial record of Isabel Tripp. All of these things combine to show that the "Elizabeth" written in the parish register was an error.)

As you can see from this, there are several corrections to be made:
First of all, the marriage of John Tripp & Isabel Moyses is recorded in Horkstow, as is Isabel's christening.
Second, Ann Tripp, sister of our John Tripp, was born at least twenty years later than the Ann Tripp who married Edmund Ingalls; moreover, our Ann Tripp died at the age of 4-1/2 years.
Third, of the 9 children known to have been born to John Tripp & Isabel Moyses, no daughters and only three sons lived to be adults:John "the Founder," Francis, & the second Robert.
