I believe that we may have found an answer to the question of Dr. Peter Trisler's wife.Dr. Peter reportedly came to America from Germany c. 1780 settling in Hagerstown MD, moved to Jessamine County, KY about 1789.We have known that he had children - Peter Jr., Henry, John, Catherine, Mary, and others -- probably 8 or 9.In searching original civil court (Jessamine Cty. KY) documents, we found the following:a reference in an 1818-19 suit brought against his daughter Mary Trisler Howser for slander--she called him an "adulterer"; a reference in an 1820 letter Dr. Peter wrote to the court stating he had a "large family to maintain", a notation on a subpoena by the sheriff that he had left the notice with "wife of Dr. Peter Trisler 9th March 1820 he being absent" and four separate subpoenas (Mar.24, 1819; Apr. 14, 1819, July 14, 1819 & Oct. 1st 1819) for "Elizabeth Trisler, Snr." -- on the same subpoenas, three of Dr. Peter's children (Peter Jr. & wife Polly, Susanna Canvy [Cawby?]& John Trisler) are named.Although this is not hard proof, it is strong circumstantial evidence. We need to keep researching these original documents -- I am sure there is more evidence there and perhaps even hard proof.
