Tell us about yourself so that some possible relatives can respond.Where do you live?Where were your earliest known ancestors from as as you know?
There is a Trott DNA project that is trying to enlist males named Trott to sign up in order to learn about recent Trott relatives and to learn about Trott origins many, many years ago.We are trying to get Trott males from all over the world to sign up.Most of the participants are from the US thus far, although several are from the UK.I have learned of two previously unknown relatives through the DNA project, one in Maryland and one in Ohio. The testing has also confirmed my suspected familial relationship with a third Trott who lives in Texas.
The testing thus far is showing that there are three diffferent groups of persons named Trott, based on their DNA haplogroups. This probably means that they are from three different groups that spread across Europe thousands of years ago.
I descend from a line of Trotts whose first known ancestor was in Maryland in the late 1600's. I am hoping some day to link up with someone named Trott in Europe so that I can learn more about my family's origins. There were other groups of Trotts in the mid to late 1600's in the New World--one group in South Carolina/Bermuda and another in New England; however, thus far no one from either of those two groups has been tested and we do not know if the three groups are related.
