The earlist Hause I can varify is Peter Hause and wife Maria Hoffman of Catonsville MD, married 1810 Chester, PA. Peter served in the 36 Baltimore militia in the war of 1812 in defence of Ft. McHenry. The battle took place in 1814. In the 1850 census it lists Maryland as both Maria and Peter's birth place.(not PA). I have found information that sugests Maria's father was a Hessian named Henrich Hoffman,in PA, latter fighting for America. Naomi Hause (married Thomas F. Troxell)was Maria and Peters daughter, born 1927. Peter Hause owned a concedrable amount of land in Catonsville - in 1850 his holdings were listed at $22,000. He had a saw mill on the Patapsco river. He built a dam know as Hause dam, that was used as the main water works for Catonsvill in the late 1800's and served as the basis for the modern water suply to Catonsville. The family home is located next door to the Catonsvill historic socity on Fredrick RD. There are two stone houses, one has been restored and is on the historic register, and the outher is a larger stone, but coverd with siding. They are located about a mile outside of Ellicott city.
