It was good to hear from you. I was born in Raleigh, NC July 1958 to Charles K. Thorne and Melba R. Hudson. We moved to Charlotte, NC just before I was two, which we still live in this area.John Parker died 7/26/1955, Mattie died In 12/1974, I was 16 years old. I can remember going to what I call the old home place as a kid for Mattie’s Birthday, for they use to have it on the grounds there. We use to go over and watch the drag races that were something else because we always got in free. One of my fondest memories is getting to pump the water out of the well at the back porch sink.Another was getting to sleep or just lay on the feather bed. I can remember as we would take off to the woods going out back, Great Grnadmother Mattie, hollering to us kids to make sure we stayed away from the old well. As for the old house, I was down there a little over a year ago with my Mom and Edna Sorrell and took pictures as it stands today. We also went inside, and it’s a shame that it’s been left that way. Walking through it still brought back memories. I last saw Great Aunt Hettie and Vendaris the weekend after Valentine’s Day. I was done for my Aunt Grace’s funeral. Hettie is the only child still living from John and Mattie. Her sister Ellie, My Grandmother passed away Feb. 4, 1993.

I talked to my Mom and she said she had talked to you at the Parker reunion about her daughter working on our family tree. Well I'm that daughter. She gave me your phone number and email address but I had been so busy I never got around to emailing you. My daughter was in a very bad automobile accident Oct. 16 and like to have gotten her self killed, and then I have neck surgery Nov. 9. Time has just passed by. Hopefully I can pick this back up again.
