Dear Uncle, I can inform you that I stood the trip very well and landed at home in 8 days after I left your hous and found all of our connections well though thar has bin a grate deal of sickness amongst the citizens here and a grate many deathsthe diseases has generally bin flux and fever connectedI hope these may find you and family wellDer uncle after my accomplements I will rite you bad nuse from uncle N Tubb family.12 of them is deadwe reseivd a letter from brother Jim yesterdaythey all died in Lousania 60 miles below Vicksburg.I will now give you a list of the naims as this letter stated them.uncle Nich Aunt Rhody Adline george Arantha and jims oldest son William Liva Huston that is all the white famlysof the blacks Jerry Tannerold biddy suse and young biddythey all died with the colaryuncle nich left green and his family in this country to pay off some debts that he left behindThe requested on his deat bed that uncle george Gillespie and Col Nabers should wind us his business in this and also requested Jim to go on to TexasThis letter was maild on the instruction and he expected to start on to Texas in a day or two he ses that he will come in the next spring and then he can tell us all his trubble and triles on the wayuncle I am much confused and cant rite as I wish though I shall rite again shortlygive my respects to AdeliaJim and Mary and also to ThomMatand famlysso nothing more but remains your afectionet Nephew untill Death
