daughter of Robert del Holme Lord de Tranmure in ye first mentioned Countie, which Thomas was son and heire of Sir Owen Tucker de Halton and Sealyham by his wife Angharad daughter of Sir Mathew Ellis de Overlegh near ye Citie of Chester, ye above Sir Owen was living temp Edward 3rd and fought in ye van of ye English Armye, com- manded by ye Lord Audlaye under Edward ye Black Prince at ye Battle of Poictden Anno 1356, ye said Sir Owen was lineally descended from Sir William Tucker Sene- schal to Hugh do Lacy, Constable of Chester and Baron do Halton temp Henry 2nd." The armorial bearings of the Tucker family, as emblazoned in the Cotgrave Pedigree, are, — "1st Shield. Quarterly, first & fourth Azure, a Chevron embattled & counter embattled or, between threo sea-horses naiant argent, for Tucker. Second Azure, A chief and three Chevronells in base or. for Fitz-Hugh. Third, Azure a Lion rampant Argent, for Montalt, impaling Gules, a fesse indented erminois between three bugle horns or stringed Argent for Cotgrave. 2nd Shield — Tucker with the same quartering* impaling Barry of Six Or. and azure, for Holme. 3rd Shield — Tucker with the above quarterings impaling Ermine a Lion rampant Sable for Ellis." The ancient arms of Tucker of Halton were " Ermine on a fesse Sable, a buckle Argent."
