These postcards were sent to my Watson ancestors, who at the time resided in Portland, Oregon. They came, originally, from Missouri and Illinois.
(1)postcarddated 10-16-1908, postmarked San Diego, Ca. Image on front shows "El Capitan, 3300 ft. above the Merced, California".
quoted message: "Dear friend, I have not heard from you for a long time so I will write a card to let you know where we are. We are in San Diego, the best climate on Earth. I knew if you wrote to LA that it would be forwarded here. How are you anyway. Mrs. Tullar, 445 National Ave., San Diego, Cal."
(2) postcard dated August 14, 1911, posted from San Diego, California.Quoted message:
" Your letter just received, am so sorry to hear of your misfortune.Will write soon, as I am having my vacation now.We are well. I have not seen Mrs. Birdsall for some time.Mrs. Fullar 3121 K Street"
(3)postcard dated June 30, 1916 San Diego, California Quoted message:
"My dear Mrs. Watson, your card received and glad to hear from you.I answered your letter and you must have received it about the time you wrote your card.I have been very busy. I have made $55. this month and I told you how much I made last month in my letter but I will not have so much over time after this. Will close. We are going to have a 4day celebration the 4th. Write soon, Mrs. Tullar, 2243 K Street, San Diego, Cal."
(4) another card, dated 1916. The pre-printed message on the card (accompanying the image on the front) states "I am writing from San Bernardino, California".Mrs. Tullar crossed all that out. The postmark on this card is San Diego, and the address Mrs. Tullar shows on it is the same 2243 K Street, as shown on card (3).
