I apologize for the length of this email.I have several questions.I have tried to contact Dick Tunks, David James Tunks, Sally (Tunks) Joyner, Jack Parr, and Roger and Rachel Latham, but all of my emails have been returned.
My name is Lawrence Tunks, son of Larry, who is the son of Merle, who is the son of Lon, who is the son of Samuel, who is the son of Peter Hoover Tunks, who is the son of Richard, the son of Thomas, the son of Richardus.
#1-Does anyone know the history of the Tunks name/family before Richardus and Anna Tunks? From my research, it seems as though everything started at this point, but what about Richardus' family prior? From my understanding, before Tunks' were in Bitterley, they migrated from Wellington, and before that, they migrated from Ken near Tong Castle.I am wondering who the people were before Richardus. How did the Tunks name just pop onto the scene in Bitterely w/ Richardus' baptism. When did the surname first appear and why did it appear then?
#2-Does the Tunks family have a coat of arms/crest/shield from the days in England?I am under the impression that many families had them, so I thought perhaps there is one for Tunks (particularly this line). If so, what is it, what does it look like, does anyone have a picture of it, does anyone know the sybbolism of it?
#3-I am also trying to locate a copy of Omar A. Tunks' book from 1978.It is virtually impossible to find (except at the Library of Congress who will not loan it out).Does anyone know how to get a copy?
Sorry this is so lengthy, just looking for some info.
