I have tabulated a fairly extensive tree starting with the (inevitable) Copsi Tunstall (c 1032) with Norman origins and moving up to Marmaduke Tunstall (mid 18th century), Lord of Wycliff, Scargill and Hutton Longvilliers who married Mary Markham of S Audley St, London. I have also included several major Plantagenet and Tudor - Yorkists and Lancatrians - families and can show the broad connections to several Kings and Queens of England. Quite interesting reading even if a little pompous - for which I make no apology!
I also have my own ascendants going back to Thomas Tunstall, son of a farmer near Head of Tees (West Yorkshire) who, c.1805, married a Mary Walker (1776-1851), daughter of a clergyman at Kirkby Stephen, Westmoreland.
(1) Can anyone lead on with the descendants of the above Marmaduke who resumed the name of Tunstall after a brief use of the name Constable which he had inherited from his uncle (also Marmaduke) and the latter's brother (ie his father) Cuthbert? (The Sheldon connection via his father's first marriage to Amy, sister to Lord Hugh Clifford, finished with Edward Sheldon and Francis Sheldon dying each without issue in 1804 and 1821 respectively).
(2) Can anyone throw some light on the above Thomas Tunstall's family and ancestors?
Obviously, if I can link the two, I can find a line going back to about my 27th (or more) GGF. Worth a try!
Any help greatly appreciated as i am but a poor amateur and I know there a lot of pro's and semi-pro's out there....Many thanks in advance to each and all.
