Ruth Turner (I have no information regarding her middle name) wed Moses Hurt before the year 1749 because that works out to be the year their son James was born (in 1820, James applied for a Revolutionary War pension and gave his age as 72).Ruth and Moses were most likely married in Caroline County since that's where Ruth's parents lived. It appears that Ruth and Moses headed out toward Bedford County at about the same time as her parents and siblings. In 1761, her father James Turner, deeded Bedford County land to his children -- in the case of his daughters, the husbands were included, and in Ruth's case, her son James was also included in the deed.
Moses Hurt died in 1806, and at that time Ruth was still living (she was mentioned in his will, as were their children).I don't have a death date for her.Their children were:
James Hurt (who moved to Maury County, Tenn.) Elisha Hurt, married and had children, but I don't have the name of his wife. Nathan Hurt Littlebury Hurt, never had children, moved to TN or KY. Mary Hurt Apphia Hurt, wed Micajah Stone. He died in 1799.
William Hurt, born about 1757, married twice.First to Sarah Fields, in 1780 in Bedford County, VA.Second to Elizabeth McMurray in Barren County, KY
Bathsheba Hurt, born about 1765 (her birth date is based on her given age in the 1850 Federal Census for Henry County, VA).Married Stephen Stone. He died in 1835 and she died in 1852This is my line.
