Tony, I am very pleased to have stumbled across this post of yours. I believe it is the answer to some questions that I have been pondering and researching for several weeks. If I'm right, I believe I descend from Vincent through his daughter Ellen. I live in Lambsburg (Carroll County) where Vincent and his family settled.
Can you verify the following?
Vincent married Millie M. Ward (b. 1839, d. 31 Jan 1927), d/o William "Billy" Ward (b. 1813, d. 1866) and Nancy Carrico (b. 1821, d. 1900). They had at least four children: Rosey E. (b. abt 1861), Nancy A. (b. abt 1865), James M. (b. abt 1868), and William J. (b. abt 1869). I gathered this much from the 1870 census data, in which the family's last name is written "Kerney." The 1850 census also lists them with this spelling.
If I am right about this, Rosey E. from the 1870 is my g-g-grandmother who went by "Ellen" and married Frost Golding (b. 1856 in Surry Co., NC). I assume Ellen died before 1900 because in that year her husband, Frost, married his second wife in Carroll Co., VA.
I have struggled to connect all the dots in this line, due in part to the confusion over the last names (Turney vs. Kerney). But I hope you can confirm this info for me, and perhaps even provide me with more.
