Mr. Hardy, I have your information! When looking through my lineage book, I neglected to look at the Henderson County Tweed's mentioned in the previous post. All of the following is from the book. James Hamilton Tweed and Thomas Wilson Tweed were brothers. There parents were Samuel Bedford Tweed (Abt.1814 Ireland- died April 1849 in Cairo Illinois) and Jane Hamilton (Feb.6,1811 in S.C., died July 16,1887). Samuel Tweed and his family left Lincoln County, Tennessee to move west. Samuel took ill while on the Ohio River and supposedly died not long after getting off of the boat in Cairo, Illinois. Jane Hamilton Tweed returned to Tennessee with her sons (James Hamilton Tweed and Thomas Wilson Tweed)for a number of years before moving to Buncombe County, N.C. to claim her late father-in-laws (Thomas Tweed)estate.
James Hamilton Tweed was born May 2,1841, Lincoln County,Tn. and died December 11, 1922 in Henderson County, Tn.He married Susan Ursulla Sherrill on November 29,1881 in Buncombe County, Tn.She was born Dcember 4, 1847 and died July 25, 1942 in Cane Creek, Henderson County, N.C.
Thomas Wilson Tweed was born Jan.25,1845, Lincoln County, Tn. and died March 22,1927 in Buncombe County, N.C.He married Allie Matilda Young in 1872. She was born on November 12, 1853 and died July 7, 1926.
That is all I have. There are a couple of pretty good pictures of James Hamilton Tweed as well as a family photo with Thomas Wilson Tweed in it also. If you are needing the photos I will have Dina Chesser contact Jason Tweed and see about the permission to use them. Also, in the book there is some detail about James and Thomas service as well as obituaries. Let me know if you need them.
