My great-great grandmother Harriett (Rose) Twitchell was widowed in Endicott / Endwell, NY, Town of Union, in 1911.She was the 2nd wife of Edward C. Twitchell (1833 - 1911).Edward's father was Willis / Wyllis Twitchell of West Windsor, NY.
Harriett was left with 2 young daughters, Anna (my grandmother), and Pearl.Edward's children from his 1st marriage had already been sent out to work for other families in the Harpursville, NY, area.
Later in 1911, Harriett placed her daughters in the Susquehanna Valley Children's Home, where they remained until they were 15 years of age, and sold her house.
In the http://fultonpress.comhttp://fultonpress.com website I found a webpage referencing my great-grandmother widow Harrett Twitchell that also appears to reference 2 other relatives in a newspaper Thank You note: Leighton Wood, and Florence Little.
In the Binghamton Press on April 05, 1917, a Thank You note was published:
CARD OF THANKS We wish to thank the friends and neighbors for the kindness shown during the death of monther and sis- ter, and also to those that sent flowers. MRS. HARRIETT TWITCHELL MRS. FLORENCE LITTLE MR. LEIGHTON WOOD
"Mother" was mis-spelled in the newspaper.
I'm looking for any info at all on parents / siblings of Harriett (Rose) Twitchell.I have been told Harriett's maiden name was Rose, but its possible it was Wood.Leighton Wood was in the Binghamton, NY, area until at least 1921. How was he related to Harriett Twitchell? How was Harriett related to Mrs. Florence Little?
Sometime after 1917, Harriett married a William Bradley. It is rumored they moved to Oklahoma and had more children.I have no confirmation, however.
