In your 11 Mar 2001 posting elsewhere on Twitchell/Ryan, you state that John Ryan and wife Jane were both born in Vermont and both are buried in Verden, IL. but Charles R. is buried in Nebraska. If I remember to attach a copy of the 1910 census of Grand Island, NE it will show that Charles G. says his father, John, was born in Pennsylvania (!) and his mother in Vermont. He said the same in the 1910 census.
The 1880 census of Staunton, Macoupin, Illinois (the sheet says Verden) show Jane as a widow. It lists 7 children, one of which is Charles G., but here his father is shown as having been born in Illinois. Something is out of whack here. May I ask what documents have you seen/have copies of which show that John and Jane were both born in Vermont?
Also, in a 22 January 2001 posting on Genealogy.com/Genforum you give John's middle initial as both R and H.
Charles G. and wife Evelyn A. had a daughter Evelyn A., and she had a daughter by a John C. Benton, in Grand Island, NE in 1932. The daughter born in Grand Island, my friend, is not even sure her parents were married. I have found the Bentons to be a messed up family, and with sloppy census records have had hours of work yielding only a lot of uncertainty. The mother of John C. Benton show up in San Francisco's 1900 census with her kids Murray M. and John C, but NO husband, then 15 days later they are in Spokane, WA with the husband and boys named M. Mortimer and J. Clements Benton !!
I also found it odd that there seems to be records concerning Anna Sanford of New Haven, CT.
FYI, I am in no way yet found related to any of these people.
I hope this may supplement your work and add to mine.
