Andrew Jackson Twitty was my great-great grandfather. He lived to about 1922, passing his adult life in Colquitt (Moultrie) and Mitchell (Camilla) counties in Georgia. He served in the Georgia cavalry during the Civil War.After the war, his father (Chapman Russell Twitty) and the rest of the family left Greenville, SC, and joined Andrew in southern Georgia.Andrew Twitty, like his father, was an educator and farmer. His daughter Ellen was my great-grandmother, born in Colquitt County in 1881.Ellen and Lester Huntley had eight children who survived childhood: Lester (known as Jim), Elmer (known as Mike), Clara, Mamie (known as Mary, my grandmother), Edna, Ruby, William, and Christine. Ca 1923, when Mr. Huntley is said to have died, the family moved to Winter Haven, FL. Two of Ellen's children are alive today, Edna Doyle, and Christine Hunt, both living in the Winter Haven area. There are numerous great-grandchildren, mainly in Florida.I'd be happy to provide dates and names if you're interested.
