Patricia: Yes, it appears we are indeed cousins, a bit removed. Any information would be appreciated. Also, I'm working with Michael Twitty, an African-American, who is interested in tracing his roots. It appears that the John Twitty side of the family (one of Thomas' two sons) had more slaves than Captain Twitty's side. The only slave names I have are Solomon and Dennis, two of John Twitty's slaves used as collateral in a loan, and Dilsy, a slave woman given to Peter Twitty (a son of Captain Thomas) by a George Wright of Georgia. There is no telling if Dilsy kept the name Wright or took her new owner's name. Any information that may help Michael would be appreciated.
