I am seeking information regarding Josephine S. Twombly, born about 1830, who married Epaphras K BRYANT (26 Apr 1827 - 3 Jul 1864) of Lee, Penobscot, ME.They had three children: 1. Flora Bella BRYANT (1857) 2. Frank L BRYANT 3. Virginia BRYANT
Epaphras BRYANT was wounded in the battle of Gettysburg, and died in the Army Hospital in Washington DC.
Epaphras was the only son Thomas Jefferson BRYANT and Cordilla NORTON.
His oldest daughter, Flora Bella (Belle?) (my great-grandmother) was seven when he died.I can find little information about what became of Josephine or the other two children.I'm not certain whether they went to live with relatives or what, but I think the Twombly Family must have played some role since Epaphrus was an only child.
I believe there was some estrangement between Flora Bella and Jospehine or her family when she later converted to Catholicism and subsequently married John Rooney of Boston, Mass.Flora Bella's daughter, Mary (Molly) Rooney (my grandmother) of Butte, Montana, spoke of an Aunt Jane who wrote her periodically. The letters meant alot to her.
I know what happened to Flora Bella, but want to know the fate of her mother and siblings.Thank you.
