Ulrich survivors of 1938 Volga massacre?
My wife just got back from a trip to Germany and while there she met a German/Russian woman descended from Volga Germans.
Her name is Eva Meinhardt and she was born in 1929.
She said in 1938 the Soviets came to their village and massacred all the men and deported the women and children to Siberia, where she grew up.
Her parents names were Heinrich des Heinrich Ulrich and her mother's name was Amalia.
She wants to know if there are any survivors or relatives of the Volga Germans who immigrated to America or Canada, as she doesn't know anyone from theUlrich family she is related to in Germany.
The Volga Germans were orignally from Schwaben and had been settled along the Volga for generations when they weredriven out in 1938.
My email is now: [email protected]
Thank you
