Hello Bob:
Thanks for your very quick response.
Your note was VERY helpful. You provided me with the maiden name
of the wife of John S. Ulrich, "M. Phoebe BLY," something I did not have.
This will enable me to look for her, her parents and siblings in the 1850
and 1860 US Census, prior to her marriage. That will give me her roots.
BLY is an uncommon name, and I ought to be able to find her easily.
You asked how I am related to the ULRICH family.I am not related, but
one of our close family friends and neighbors since about 1974, here in
Fort Washington Maryland, is a Great Grandson of the Union Soldier and
Civil War Veteran, John S. Ulrich.I am not a professional genealogist,
but my degrees are in history and I have worked in professional research
for DoD/J2 and the Army Reserve, from both of which I am now retired.
Genealogy is thus a hobby of mine and I sometimes will research the
families of good friends, just for fun, which is how I happened to look into
your Ulrich Family up in Watsontown, Northumberland County, PA.So
there you have it.It's kind of like a crossword, sudoku, or chess problem.
I would like to work further with you on your family, and I still have more
data that might be of interest to your children and grandchildren.More soon!
Regards, George H. Stevens
