MARION -- James Howard Whisman, 95, of Marion died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001, in Valley Health Care Center.
Mr. Whisman was born in Wythe County to the late Harvey and Missouri (Umberger /chart 51) Whisman and was retired from Brunswick Corp. He was a charter member of Church of God in Marion.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Virginia York Whisman; seven sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Margaret Whisman of Cleveland, Tenn., Jim and Evelyn Whisman of Anawalt, W.Va., Jack and Marie Whisman of Owosso, Mich., David Whisman of Saltville, Harold and Dee Whisman of Owosso, Paul and Donna Whisman of Bluff City and Curtis and Teresa Whisman of Henderson, Nev.; one daughter, Shirley Whisman Cook of Radford; 25 grandchildren; his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday from Church of God on Matson Drive in Marion with Rev. Fred Whisman, Rev. Kevin Whisman and Rev. Jerry Alley officiating.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the church.
