John UNRUE was born July 25th, 1836, and departed this life at his home in West Ripley, May 13, 1923, being 80 years, 9 months and 18 days old.
He was united in marriage to Earli Martha PRICE in the year 1859 and to this union was born seven children.
He is survived by two brothers, William H. and Isaiah, and five children: Mrs. C. C. STEWART and Mrs. A. D. SAYRE, of Evans; Mrs. J. D. PARSONS, of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. C. F. KERWOOD, of Ripley, and Julius UNRUE, of Dunbar. His wife and two daughters, Mrs. E. E. STARCHER and Mrs. Georgia PARSONS, preceded him to the better world.
He was converted and joined the United Brethren Church at Mt. Moriah under the ministry of Rev. J. W. MARTIN several years ago and held his membership there until his death.
He enlisted in the Union army during the Civil War and was a member of Company F, 1st Regiment of West Virginia Veteran Infantry Volunteers, being honorably discharged therefrom at the close of the conflict. After the death of his wife he made his home with his youngest daughter, Mrs. C. F. KERWOOD. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. HITE at the United Brethren Church Wednesday and interment made in Pine Hill Cemetery Jackson Co. WV (Friday, June 1, 1923.
