Hi, Glenda;
I am doing research on my husband's side of the family. I saw your postings for Howell's and Updike's. My husband, Bob, has 2 aunts and an uncle (his mother's siblings)still living in Virginia, and I believe according to his Aunt Elsie, that there are still Howells and Updikes living in Bedford Co., which she said is about 30 miles from her. Bob's mother, Lydia Howell, passed away in 1997 and is the daughter of John Thomas Howell and Beaulah Lee Ferguson. Her grandparents are Alexander Willoughby Howell and Missouri J. Overstreet. Her great-grandparents are Pleasant Austin Howell and Selina (Selinia) Updike. So that would make Pleasant and Selina Bob's gggrandparents.His aunt Elsie has verified this information.She is in the process of gathering up info on this family line for me.I am very much interested in what you have on the Howell's and Updikes. I will be more than happy to give you what I have on this line of the family.It's not a whole lot, but there is plenty to start with.I did print out the bible information that I am assuming you scanned and posted on line.That was really great of you to do that.My husband knows very little about his family, and he was really excited to see the bible info. My doing his family tree is exciting for him, as I said, he knew very little of his ancestors and loves what I am finding for him. Any pictures that you may have of the Howells or Updikes, I would love to have for his family tree book I am working on for him and his 3 sons. It doesn't necessarily have to be in his direct line, but these would also be pictures of his aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. I would be more than happy to pay you for any expenses. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] to hear from you soon!
