Our Pfaff family came from Canton Bern (Leistal area) Switzerland aboard the ship Broderschap from Amsterdam, in 1816 arriving in Philadelphia. On that ship were (2) Anna Elizabeth Pfaff, first cousins, on same page. The first Anna Elizabeth was the d/o Heinrich Pfaff and wife, Anna Elizabeth Spinnler Pfaff, the second Anna Elizabeth Pfaff was the daughter of Johannes Pfaff and wife, Anna Margreth Doering Pfaff, born 1814 in Switzerland.Johannes died on the trip to "Nord Amerika" by a Switzerland record. Anna Margreth Pfaff the widow of Johannes in 1821 Fairfield Co., Ohio (as Margretha Gass) and Johann Urborn were witnesses to the baptism of Samuel, son of Heinrich Pfaff and wife, Ana Elizabeth who was born 10 August 1821 and baptized 28 October by Honorable M.J. Steck. *St. Michael's German Reformed Church which is on Bickel Church Rd. in rural Fairfield Co., Ohio with cemetery nearby. Anna Margretha Doering Pfaff widow of Johannes md. 2nd in 1818 Fairfield Co., a John Gass or Goss.So there are two possible Anna Elizabeth Pfaff's who could marry a John Urbin (Urborn). In 1840's I believe that John Urbin, John Poff (son of Heinrich and who also immigrated to US with his parents) and another man from Fairfield Co. Ohio had purchased land in Illinois-Cumberland Co. I believe-John's will had his executors selling this land and dividing it between the heirs in 1859, when John had died of consumption. The Elizabeth Poff who is in the census you show in HH of Samuel Ault and wife, Anna is a sister of Anna, and d/o John and Salome Hensel Poff, being married to Samuel Alt/Ault.An 1896 partition record names the heirs of John and wife Salome (Hensel) Poff (Americanized from Pfaff).I know Anna Barbara, d/o Heinrich Pfaff and Anna Elizabeth Spinnler Pfaff married a John Miller. Frances/Fanny Pfaff, d/o Heinrich and Anna Elizabeth S. Pfaff married Peter Roshon who shows in the early records of St. Michael's.Peter and Fanny are both buried in Old Basil Cemetery, Fairfield Co., Ohio he Mar. 10, 1877 (aged 71y 7m 17 d. and Fanny 1803-1880. She would have been 13 on the trip to North America from Switzerland via Holland by ship Broderschap where she shows as Frances. The record of the Pfaff/Poff family in St. Michael's Cemetery shows after John Poff, and his and Salome's children (John, Caroline, Clara and Almeda) and his parents is a Urben (Urbin) Elizabeth w/o John, d. June 13, 1870, 31 y 4m 9d.This is likely the daughter of John and Salome. The partition record of John Poff, whose widow Salome d. April 1897 named heirs Anna Alt; Adam Poff of Licking County; the children of Elizabeth, deceased wife of John Urban who were Dille Urban of Kewanna, Fulton Co., Indiana, Almeda Quick of Licking Co., and Riley Schaffner, the child of Maria deceased wife of Francis C ook of Franklin County, who was Harley Cook of Franklin County, the children of Salome, deceased wife of Samuel Wells, who were Monroe Wells of Franklin County, Bird Wells McCalla of Franklin Co., Nettie Wells, Meta Wells and Olen Wells; Henry Poff (Henry petition court for division of his mother's property-with him asking for his portion).Large record, I have partially transcribed it. I descend Heinrich-John-Henry Clinton-Henry Clinton-Adam "Bryan"-Martha-me.
