Re Van Camps in Eastern ontario.Original Van Camp to come to Canada as a UEL was a Peter Van Camp.Without spending a lot of time digging out the historical reference, if memory serves, Peter died in Quebec in 1783/4. he was part of a malita unit, Jessup's Loyal Rangers, that came from the Albany N.Y. area. His children, which were many, then moved on with the remainder of the Rangers to land grants on the North Shore of the St. Lawrence river including Augusta township, Ont.(1784). Two of his children were Phoebe and Hetty, from whom I descend.(my grandparents were 5th generation cousins via this line).I have not researched the family much further but would be interested in any details. Any descendants from Peter would be considered U.E.For details on the U.E. e mail email@example.com. gerry knapp U.E.
