This is actually the second time you've come to the rescue. It was your efforts that led me to find Hugh and the Vanderbilt's in the first place.
I see the 1890 veteran census for Hugh and it does look like Company A on the actual document. Is there a reason you might guess it was E?
I found a muster for the company as well.

I did not find a McFadden listed but I'm not sure that means anything. My guess is that it is the same Hugh McFadden on the census that is the husband of a daughter of john and Amanda Vanderbilt. The lycoming genealogical society has his wife's name as "Mary" but I don't know where they got that information from.
