If Daniel Vanderslice, Jr. was born February 10, 1799, Thomas J. Vanderslice born about 1801, John Henri Vanderslice born 1802, then Daniel Vanderslice, Jr., who apparently is the same person as the Major Daniel Vanderslice (Doniphan County History) must have been the eldest son of Daniel Vanderslice (1759-1812) and Margaret Clemmons (1780-1815). The Vanderslice book states that Daniel Vanderslices widow married R. Franklin (Records of Poulson's Daily Advertiser). The book does not mention any other marriages of Daniel Vanderslice, Sr. It does mention the story of Daniel sending his pregnant wife to her parents in Reading during the Yellow Fever rage in Philadelphia and the child (Daniel, Jr.) being left with relatives in Reading when she returned to Philadelphia. The book also list Catherine Vanderslice as a child of Daniel and Margaret (Clemmons) Vanderslice but does not give her birth date. Catherine was first married to a John A. Roke and second to a Mr. Snyder. In her will, Catherine (Vanderslice) Snyder mentions Sarah and Jane, daughters of her brother John Henri Vanderslice.
