I am looking for information about Lucy Van Hining or alternate spelling of Van Hyning. Her father was either William Henry Van Hining or Wells Henry Van Hining. I am not sure of his DOB, but Lucy's aprox DOB is 1853-1855. He and possibly his brother were in the Civil War,

W. H. Van Hyning is burried in Akers Chapel in Adams County Illinois. Lucy was taking in by Henry and Mary Magdalene Iftner in El Dara, Illinois, that same year. Either W. H. Van Hyning left her at the poor house, or left her with the Iftners on the way to the poor house. I believe she had one or two brothers, older than she, but nothing more is known about them. Lucy married Alexander Benson in Aug of 1875, in Martinsburg Township, Pike County, Illinois. In the 1880 census she was living in Valley, Rice, Kansas. Alexander was a farmer, she was a housewife and they had two little girls, Ida M. 6yrs and Mandy 4yrs. In 1900, Alexander Benson is back in Illinois, Lucy and the girls are no where to be found. I have a picture of Lucy when she was either in her late teens or early twenties. I want to find out what happened to Lucy and her daughters. Lucy would be my great great grandmother, and my Grandpa would like to know what happened to his grandma, he never knew her, his father (her son) never knew her. I have some additional info if this sounds familiar. PLEASE E-MAIL ME!
