When traveling to Uniontown, Pa. from WV we visited the United Brethern church cemetery at Bruston Mills. There were a lot of Van Sickles buried there.David E. 1883 - 1939, Sarah J. 185-1966Rev. Walter E. Van Sickle 1895 - 1979Grace H1897 - 19__ Orley D. 3/8/30.This is just to name a few.Another name on opposite of monument was Gutherie. Also, the confluence area you mention was called that because there was the confluence of the Ohio, Monongahela and Allegheny and Cheat rivers. It was also called Turkey Foot because the way the rivers and the land formed the shape of a turky foot.My gt. gt. gt. gt. grandfater was the first settler in the area. His name was Peter Dragoo so he may have been a neighbor of the Van Sickles.
Maria Dragoo, my ancestors sister was married to Tunis Van Pelt, who also when tracing the Van Sickle line makes a complete circle from my husband and I going backward to Richmond County New York.I have more names and I will be willing to share them from the cemeteries when I can find the pictures we took of the tomhstones.I am looking for information on Lambert Van Sickle born about 1743.My husband's family went to Canada after the Rev. War and were UEL's.There is a Lambert in Canada, perhaps a grandson of the one in New Jersey. If anyone can add to our information it would be greatly appreciated.Thank you
