We know that the name transitioned over time--some folks often spelling their names themselves different ways during their lifetimes.And we are all at the mercy of the clerks and record keepers in olden times, who spelled by whim and hearsay.
Though I have now spent the better part of two hours going over this thread, I am still unclear as to the real import of the conversation--though I can see that Catherine Johnson plays a role somehow. Are these folks claiming that Catherine Johnson, 2nd wife of Cornelius Van Sicklen, is the mother of Maria Van Siclen Eastling? Or am I lost entirely?
