"There is a Mathew Lossing immediatley above Hannah Lossing in the Reform Fishkill Baptisimal record. Would you know if there is a birth/baptismal record for Mathew Lossing and if so I would appreciate it you would include that record with the records of Sally and Ferdinand."
Does this mean you are actually going to look at records, finally?I am in a state of shock. You might finally learn something.
For references to the Lassen/Lassing/Lawson/Lossing, etc genealogy, I refer you to New York Genealogical and biographical record, volumes 130 and 131.There you will find everything you need to locate the parents of Matthew P "LOSSING", only you won't find his baptism under the exact spelling of "LOSSING".Like cousin Annatje, he was baptised under another spelling.I believe his parents were Pieter Lassing(Lawson) and Marytie Jacocks, Pieter being the son of Willem and brother of Simeon. You may continue harping on the exact spelling thing all you like, but it won't change the fact that Lossing, Lassing, and Lawson are all variant spellings of the Lassen family name.In the Fishkill church, the name appears only a half dozen times. In the Poughkeepsie Church, Lossing does not appear at all, nor does it in Hopewell, or Kingston.Lawson is the most common spelling, with Lassing and Lassen close behind.Lassen was the original spelling.Lawson is the result of the fact that most recordkeepers were English, and that is what the name sounded like to them.In the New Hackensack Church, the LOSSING spelling is the most prevalent, and appears 34 times.Let's look at those.

On page 64, Andrew Lossing is married to Mary Clock
On 58, 59, 72, Catharine Lawson is married to Aaron Phillips
On 62 and 67, Catharine Lossing is married to Aaron Phillips
On 42, 44, 47, Elizabeth Lasson is married to John Dates
On 52, 55, 58, Elizabeth Lawson is married to John Dates
On 60 and 63, Elizabeth Lossing is married to John Dates
On 62,64,65, Gitty Lossing is married to Abraham Ferdon
On 53, 56,58,70,72, Gitty Lawson is married to Abraham Ferdon
On 64,67 John Lossing is married to Elizabeth Merrit
On 53,55,61,69, John Lawson is married to Elizabeth Merrit
On 64,67, Margaret Lossing is married to Willem Van Keuren
On 61,62, 72, 74 Margaret Lawson is married to Willem Van Keuren
My obvious interest in the Lassen/Lassing/Lawson/Losson/Lossing family comes from the large number of marriages between the families - Van Keuren/Van Curen being my primary family line. The above comparisons should get the point across adequately. All you have to do is go to the actual church records and start comparing. You will quickly realize that "LOSSING" and "LAWSON" are nothing more than a record keepers spelling variation of the same name. You could have spared us all...yourself included...a lot of wasted time on this exact spelling nonsense if you simply would have done a little actual research years ago.I suggested it...you rejected it.Instead you continue to bombard us with your "know-it-all" attitude about exact spelling, despite the fact that your bold claims have no basis in fact.Exact spelling of surnames was not important 200 years ago...I have said that a hundred times or more, and it is still true.Records of the day prove that.Anyone that spends time doing actual research knows it to be true.People who spend all of their genealogy time staring at a single DAR application and proclaiming it to be the only record on earth....they are simply wasting everyones valuable time. The exact spelling subject is a dead issue. If you want to save your DAR fantasy, spelling is not going to do it.You need to find supporting documents from New York and Canada.Real records, not family folklore.Either step up to plate, or take your bat and ball and go home.
As to the references for Sally and Ferdinand:
Sally at New Hackensack, Jul 10, 1796
Ferdinand at New Hackensack, Oct 21, 1798
To everyone else I say....Cross your fingers and hope. Eddy has been clueless for a very long time, but perhaps he is finally figuring it out.If nothing else, a couple of hours with Dutchess County Church records will make him realize that Lawson and Lossing are the same name...and that will show him that Cornelius of Brighton was the father of Maria born at Fishkill, Sep 15, 1801.That will put him just one step away from recognizing Hannah Lawson as Maria VS Eastling's real mother. We are getting closer.
